• Montana Quilt

  • While traveling through Montana I was moved by the abundance of wildlife, especially the eagles soaring through the big sky. It's the ultimate honor to encounter the Eagle, a symbol of freedom and healing. The design was inspired by a traditional Native American quilt.

The patchwork design is one-of-a-kind using small batches of hand-dyed cotton. The colors are achieved through traditional dye techniques with plants including madder root, goldenrod, marigold, onion skins, pomegranate, indigo, cota, and pecans -- much of which were harvested locally in Texas.

The backside is made with indigo dyed linen. All colors are washfast, meaning they are resistant to fading or discoloration by washing. (Although it should only be hand-washed with cold water and laid flat to dry.)

The quilt is heirloom quality, made to last a lifetime and beyond. Intended to be passed down to the next generation. Over 200 hours went into this quilt, made entirely in the USA.

Machine pieced and entirely hand quilted with Japanese sashiko thread. Hand-finished with a double-binding, creating a durable edge and mitered corners.

Arrives packed in a handmade, laser-etched cedar box.

98 x 98 inches, perfectly sized for a king size or queen size bed.

This quilt can also be hung vertically as a work of art.
