Kansas Quilt
-
The design was inspired by the great plains of Kansas where the land gradually rises from East to West. The strips of fabric in the quilt mimic rows of wheat, sorghum, and sunflower crops. The five columns in the quilt create a middle row representing the geographical location of Kansas within the United States between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.
Machine-pieced from hand-dyed cotton and linen using natural indigo and osage orange wood shavings. The quilt is backed with indigo dyed linen.
Hand quilted in Austin with Japanese sashiko thread. Hand-finished with the linen from the same dye lot. The double-binding is folded over creating a durable edge and mitered corners.
Arrives packed in a handmade, laser-etched cedar box.
98 inches x 103 inches (perfectly sized for a king size bed or can be laid oversized on a queen)
This one-of-a-kind quilt can also be hung as a work of art.
