Nature's Hourglass
Traditional hourglass construction, pieced with a rhythm that alternates tannin-dyed neutrals with deeper mauve, plum, and black dyed in logwood. The pattern shifts between diamonds, bands, and stripes depending on where the eye settles.
All fabrics are naturally dyed. True black is the hardest color to achieve with natural dye, so that cloth is sourced from India. Every other color is dyed by hand with tannin and logwood, and because natural dyeing never gives a true repeat, each triangle holds its own version of its color. The color will soften and evolve beautifully over time.
Made triangle-by-triangle, stitch-by-stitch, one step at a time, a human pace.
Hand quilted with sashiko thread. Backed in blush linen and bound in a mix of purples, a small surprise at the edge. At 74 inches square, it drapes well over a bed or sofa.
