"X" Indigo Wholecloth
This quilt is made from linen hand dyed with natural indigo. It's created using a whole piece of fabric for the front, a separate (whole piece) for the back, and a middle layer of natural cotton batting for insulation.
The contrasting white stitches stand out against the indigo blue background as an element of function and design, showcasing the hand-stitched quilting designs and holding the three layers together.
Sashiko white thread against an indigo background is a traditional approach to using this japanese cotton thread. The simple running stitches, larger than traditional quilting stitches, and are sewn in repeating patterns.
This quilt is almost 52 inches x 78 inches and requires about 40 hours to complete.
It arrives in a handmade, cedar box with a laser-etched logo.
